The National Quilt Museum inspires the next generation of quilters through the School Block Challenge. Moda Fabrics provides three challenge fabrics which must be included in each block. Entries must also contain some type of machine or hand-stitching.
This annual nationwide quilt block contest and exhibit is open to students in grades K-12. A Grand Prize winner is chosen from all of the blocks; winners are selected in each of the following categories: K-4th, 5th-8th, and 9th-12th. Prizes are also awarded to all of the winners of each category.
The School Block Challenge is on exhibit Jan. 17 - March 31, 2020.
The School Block Challenge 2020 contest sets new records for: Most states represented in a single year, second highest number of entries, and several new states joining the contest for the first time!
This year we had 331 student participants with 293 entries including: 27 states & 1 APO (AL, AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MD, MO, MT, NE, OH, OR, PA, SD, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI).
