Deadline for consideration in the Round 2 exhibit is extended to July 31, 2020! To have your quilt considered for the exhibit, select that option when registering for your label.

In August, finished Round 2 quilts will be chosen to be exhibited in the Museum gallery from October 23, 2020 - January 30, 2021. Quilts will be returned after the close of the exhibit.

We’re hosting a Quilt Along from July - October 2020!

Star Cluster, was designed by our Education Director Becky Glasby. The finished top measures approximately 45” x 45” and is a fresh take on a medallion style quilt. As you can see, it's made with a coordinated-scrappy feel, working from the education department fabric stash.

We'll drop instructions for the center block on Monday, July 6 at Noon CST. Further instructions for each successive border will be released every two weeks and be exclusively available in the Block of the Month Club Facebook group, so join today!

There will be two giveaways as part of the Quilt Along for those keeping up with the timeline and winners will be randomly selected. After the Quilt Along is completed, the full instructions will be added here on the website for future reference.

Round 3 of the Block of the Month will begin January 1, 2021. It will coincide with our 30th anniversary and blocks will continue to be inspired by museum exhibits, themes and collections. More details will be announced in late 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How can I join?
Click this link to the group on Facebook and click 'join'.

What if I don't have Facebook?
Each month, the pattern will be uploaded to the museum's website at

How much does it cost?
The Block of the Month club is free!

How does the group work?
Block patterns are released on the 1st of each month. Sharing your progress each month is a welcome source of inspiration to other members. Participants can discuss quilting, share photos, ask for sewing tips and more as long as the discussion is respectful and on-topic.

How much fabric do I need?
Since each block is designed by a different artist, fabric requirements will vary. You have the option to use as many or as few fabrics as you prefer, so the quilt can be scrappy, focused in a limited color palette, or use a color scheme that evolves from month to month. It’s your quilt so use whatever makes you happy!

When do I start?
You can join at any time. Round 2 started on April 1, 2019. New patterns are released on the first of each month at noon CST.

Who designs the patterns?
Each block is designed by a quilt artist such as Victoria Findlay Wolfe, Danny Amazonas, Lise Belanger, and more. Inspiration for each block comes from an exhibit at the museum.

How much experience do I need quilting?
The club welcomes quilters of all levels. Beginner quilters can reach out to other members with questions. Different blocks will likely introduce new techniques and expand the horizons of modern quilters.

What happens at the end?
Participants who complete a quilt at the end of 12 months are eligible to receive a FREE limited-edition quilt label courtesy of The National Quilt Museum!

Can I tell others?
Absolutely! Invite your friends to join the Facebook group, or share the patterns with friends who aren't online as they are released.
